The Eagles went 3-0 Saturday defeating three time state champ, and #2 rated New Life Academy of Woodbury 6-0 in the championship game to claim the tournament championship. Shannon Rodriguez pitched three complete games, going 18 innings and only allowing 2 earned runs, a 0.78 ERA for the tournament. Making the all tournament team for the Eagles were Rodriguez, junior catcher Jill Haram, Senior SS Heidie Lembeck Burgeron, and Junior CF Micaela Meredith. The Eagles played solid defense all day long escaping a bases loaded no out situation in the bottom of the first inning in the championship game. Every member of the team played and hit the ball Saturday. The Eagles outscored their opponents on the day 31-2. "We received great pitching, good defense, and we hit the snot out of the ball all day long" said Eagles assistant coach Jim Hanson Senior. This is good for the kids, we have lost a lot of close games this year. We continue to improve and get better heading into the playoffs. The tournament was a huge success. It was a beautiful day, great fields, great field maintenance, the Eagles won, and raised some money at the same time.
